What's Up @ MSBIA 4.16.18

As many of you know, the MSBIA has taken on a remodel project for Karen Hicks. She is a Sarasota County Deputy Sheriff and Guardian Ad Litem, a Court Appointed Special Advocate for vulnerable children. As a Guardian Ad Litem, Karen works with children in Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties that have been removed from their homes due to allegations of abuse, neglect or abandonment. Through no fault of their own, these children are taken out of their home environment, and are placed in homes like Karen’s. Karen’s heroic and selfless act as a Guardian Ad Litem helps to provide a stable place to a confused and frightened child that can easily get lost in an already overburdened child welfare system. The remodel of Karen’s House is our gift to those children in need of a safe place.

We are happy to have our member Nathan Cross from NWC Construction be the contractor of record and for his leadership in getting this project completed. We are also pleased to work with the Harvest House, a 501c.3, to facilitate tax deductible processes for “In-Kind” labor & material, and financial contributions to the remodeling effort.

Other key MSBIA participants & collaborations include our Board of Directors, Sharp Design Studio, M/I Homes and other multiple member and trade partners. In addition, our Young Building Professionals (YBP) have taken a major role in the project by rallying their members to “demo” the interior of the home.

If you would like to take part in this or any other portion of the project, please contact Nathan Cross by phone: at (941) 374-6623, or by email: Nathan@NWCcustombuild.com

Please consider giving toward this necessary and worthy endeavor. Contributions can be made to the Harvest House in the name of Karen Hick’s House by going to this link https://secure.qgiv.com/for/khh/
