Mike Rahn was inducted in the Florida Housing Hall of Fame at the FHBA Fall Conference on Saturday, October 21st. Mike’s honorable record of service in the Marines prepared him for a life of service to this country, his family, and this building association. Mike is and has been an active and steadfast member of the Manatee-Sarasota Building Industry Association (MSBIA) over many years. His work with this local association has translated to the state level at the Florida Home Builders Association (FHBA), and to the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) like few that have come before him.
Mike has been on the “ladder” at the MSBIA many times, and is currently serving as a Life Director of the Board. Mike also holds the distinction of being the first Associate member to serve as President of the MSBIA, one we as an association are proud of. Mike’s interest in the Future Builders of America program has helped to develop a new generation of builders. Mike has also served on many MSBIA and FHBA committees, and currently chairs the Government Affairs Committee and serves on the PAC Committee for the MSBIA. As a Residential Mortgage Lender for over 28 years, Mike Rahn has assisted hundreds of families obtain the American Dream of home ownership, while tirelessly advocating for the home building industry. Throughout his career, and in honor of his Marine service, Rahn has seamlessly upheld the relationship between the home builder and buyer as evident in his assistance with county programs to help veterans with housing issues, establishing Florida Veteran Affairs Lending policies for new home construction mortgages for veterans, and most recently as an advisor to the Lee Wetherington Foundation to provide housing to homeless veterans and homeless veteran families. Mike currently serves as a Manatee County Planning Commissioner and serves on the Affordable Housing Committee for Manatee County.
